Background

RIPPLES OF WATER began its life as a monologue and later a one act play by AJ CICCOTELLI. The play was then performed at the 2017 Rainbow festival by the La Strada Theater Ensemble in Ocean Grove. While at the festival, which features short LGBTQ works from all over the nation, RIPPLES was so well received that the idea to adapt the play into a feature film was born.

AJ CICCOTELLI, along with the stage production’s co-lead GIAN CARLO DURLAND then wrote the screenplay and set about the very difficult task of completing a feature film with just eight full days of filming and a $5,000 budget.  Additional support was provided by producers DOUG BOLLINGER, PHIL KORZ (the co-lead in the stage production),the invaluable skill of ERIC HACKLER as cinematographer and editor and the many other NJ theater and film artists who gave their time and talents so generously to the project.

RIPPLES OF WATER has been fortunate enough to have been accepted in over a dozen film festivals and has been recognized with several accolades which include:

  • Audience Award for Best Feature- qFLIX Philadelphia
  • Nominee for Best Narrative Film- Block Island Film Festival
  • Silver Award – Philadelphia Film Festival and Market
  • Finalist at OUT HERE NOW – Kansas City LGBT Film Festival
